Book reading and the use of apps

This image shows the interest (searches on Google) for books vs apps in the US from 2004 to 2017.  The outcome was as of course excpected. We know it we feel it and the graph reflects what you and I do and have done. The red graph shows searches for “apps” and the blue represent “books”.

Of course we use our phones more and in a different way than before, because we can. But, it is one thing knowing and one thing having the facts in your face. The questions are: Can we do something about this or shall we just accept the trend and put all books aside? Perhaps it is harmful to read books? Perhaps it is not good for your eyes? Do we have to do things just because we can?
